The Black Physicians' Association of Ontario (BPAO) plays a vital role in addressing health disparities affecting Black Ontarians. Our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events are designed to equip all healthcare professionals with the knowledge needed to meet the unique health needs of Black communities, while also highlighting the systemic barriers that prevent equitable healthcare access.

For over sixteen years, the Black Physicians Association of Ontario (BPAO) has hosted our annual symposium, uniting Black physicians, medical learners, and allied health professionals from across Ontario. The 2025 symposium will continue this tradition by offering cutting-edge sessions that address the most pressing health concerns for Black Ontarians.

What to Expect

We invite you to join us for our 16th Annual Symposium, happening on February 22nd, 2025, at the prestigious Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship building at the University of Toronto's downtown campus. To ensure our Symposium is as accessible as possible, we are offering a hybrid format, allowing participants to join either in person or virtually.

This year's symposium will feature over five expert-led sessions, including:

  • Updates in the Management of Sickle Cell Anemia,
  • Dementia and Fall Prevention in Geriatric Populations,
  • Lipoprotein A and its Roles in Cardiovascular Disease Risk Stratification,
  • and breakout rooms with tailored discussions for physicians, medical learners, and allied health professionals.
